What is the story behind Go Bear project?
New Zealand’s job market felt like a 'bear' market — tough for migrants like Pranay (10+ years in tech, dozens cv sent, zero interviews) and many stuck in rejection cycles. Tom Wu, a corporate AI guru, noticed a gap: big companies used AI to thrive, while job seekers battled alone. He quit his six-figure job and rallied a team of volunteers to build Go Bear, a free AI that acts like a 24/7 job hunt assistant and coach. It polishes CVs, drafts cover letters, and even spots skills gaps, turning job hunting from hopeless to hopeful. No fees, no ads. Just a friendly bear helping underdogs land roles faster. Already, it is helping hundreds of university students from AUT and Otago Polytechnic and young professionals in NZ roar to success.
Who are the people behind Go Bear AI?
We are a group of AI-passionate IT and HR professionals based in Auckland, New Zealand, committed to create positive change in the careers of individuals from all walks of life, irrespective of their privilege or circumstances.
Despite most of us having our daytime jobs, we have chosen to dedicate our evenings and weekends to building this platform.
Tom Wu, a visionary leader, is spearheading this project from Auckland, New Zealand.
Is Go Bear really free, or are there any catches?
As a social enterprise initiative, Go Bear Forever Free Plan (covering manual job search, CV and cover letter generation etc.) are completely free for the general public, and we plan to keep this free tier available indefinitely.
Our latest Go Bear Pro Plan, designed to help you become more proactive in exploring the hidden job market and building a stronger professional network, runs on a small subscription fee to support our infrastructure and ongoing development.
How secure is my data?
Data privacy and security are our top priorities. Go Bear is built and hosted on enterprise-grade infrastructure, designed in alignment with modern, industry-leading cybersecurity practices (such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001).
